Both IBF champ “Swift” Jarrett Hurd and challenger Julian “JRock” Williams made weight at in the DoubleTree Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Hurd weighed in at 153.8 and challenger J Rock Williams weighed in initially over the weight 154-pound weight limit, after dropping his draws Williams successfully made the weight and made the fight official. Hurd captured the IBF 154 pound strap back in February of 2015 by outpointing current WBC champ Tony Harrison and added the WBA belt by outpointing Erislandy Lara in our 2018 fight of the year. Williams came up empty in his only title shot when he was stopped by Jermall Charlo back in 2016.
Top Rank’s newest addition 37-year-old Cuban Sullivan Barrera 22-2 (14 KOs) will face two-time super middleweight world title challenger Jesse Hart 25-2 (21 KOs) on the undercard of Fury vs. Schwarz on June 15 on ESPN at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Cuban had previously been scheduled to fight a week earlier on June 8th also on ESPN cruiserweight Michael Seals, however when former light heavyweight champion Eleider Alvarez suffered an injury training and was forced to pull out, Barrera was moved from his fight on the 8th of June to the Fury/Schwarz card the following week.
Life long clutch-city native and WBC Interim Middleweight Champion Jermall Charlo will return to home to face middleweight contender Brandon Adams on Saturday, June 29 from NRG Arena in Houston and to air live on Showtime. The card will also feature a WBA featherweight title eliminator between slick Mexican southpaw Eduardo Ramirez and power-punching Dominican Claudio Marrero. The card will also feature Erickson Lubin who will battle French contender Zakaria Attou in a 12-rounder that will be a WBC title eliminator.
