Updated P4P List 10/15.
This is the most recent Pound for Pound list with the best fight that can be made(in a perfect world) for each of the pound for pound guys.
Keith Thurman-. Terence Crawford is the top pound for pound fighter in the world and was the undisputed Jr welterweight champion of the world. Who is now moving up to 147. Keith Thurman is the best at 147. Plus the two guys have the about the same walking around weight so there won’t be much of a size advantage. So this fight is all too logical, 2017 was a great year for the best fighting the let’s keep the trend going in 2018.
2- Mikey Garcia-
Gervonta “Tank” Davis- The logical name here is Jorge Lineras, Lineras fights in spurts and looked pedestrian against a pretty basic Luke Campbell. Davis offers a unique skill set that would push Mikey, he is also a bigger draw than Lineras. Tank can no longer make 130, so he is now a lightweight, Mikey is clearly willing to fight anyone and Tank says he owes the fans one for giving up his title on the scales in his last fight. Well, make it up to your fans by pushing yourself against Mikey.
3- Guillermo Rigondeaux-
Vasyl Lomachemko- I haven’t looked forward to a fight this much in a long time. A truly 50/50 fight where two sweet scientists are going to adjust and readjust and adapt trying to figure each other. A perfect way to close out a great year of the best fighting the best in the perfect venue the “Mecca of Boxing”
4- Vasyl Lomachemko- “See Above”
5- Gennady Golovkin-
Floyd Mayweather- Don’t laugh. Floyd has responded to rumors said he could go to 154. Abel Sanchez said GGG could go to 154 for Floyd and only a Floyd Mayweather Fight.
6- Naoya Inoue-
Srisaket Sor Rungvisai- The Super Flyweight division may be the best most exciting division in the sport right now. I don’t know if there has ever been a time when we said that in my lifetime. But its red hot right now and this has
7- Keith Thurman – Terence Crawford- is the top Pound for Pound fighter in the world and was the undisputed Jr welterweight champion of the world. Who is now moving up to 147. Keith Thurman is the best at 147. Plus the two guys have the about the same walking around weight so there won’t be much of a size advantage. So this fight is all too logical, 2017 was a great year for the best fighting the let’s keep the trend going in 2018.
8- Erislandy Lara- Errol Spence- Lara has gotten two opportunities at mega fights and he’s won both times and both times he’s had the decisions stolen from him, pure incompetence is all that can be used to explain the Paul Williams and Canelo Alvarez losses. Erislandy Lara deserves a mega fight. He is a world class technician and defensive boxer who lands his power shots on the button with surgeon-like precision. He is also not a huge 154 pounder never has been. Errol Spence is a massively big and strong welterweight who could easily move to 154 or the two could catch up somewhere in between. Spence’s stalking, power punching and ferocious body attack against Lara’s slick style and being the picture perfect boxer makes this the perfect mesh of styles. Lara being Houston based and Spence being from the big D gives this an All-Texas Shoot Out rivalry as well.
9- Canelo Alvarez- Jermall Charlo- Canelo Alvarez can sell out any venue in Texas why not have him fight a proud Texan who reps Houston in what promise be a shootout. Continuing with the best fighting the best in what has become a red-hot middleweight division. Charlo has KO’d four of his last five opponents with just the slick Trout lasting the distance. If Canelo catches Charlo like he caught GGG, Charlo will be lying on his back. Something would have to give and this thing won’t be going all 12 as both fighters would come out guns blazing in this old-school Texas shootout.
10- Miguel Berchelt-
Terry Flanagan- Berchelt is a big strong Jr Lightweight, who could easily make the move to lightweight. With the top dog at 130 (Lomachenko) tied up in a mega fight. Now seems like the perfect time for him to do that, especially, against Flanagan who isn’t a huge puncher. Eddie Hearn has been complaining he hasn’t been able to get his boy “Turbo” the super fight he deserves since he destroyed Diego Magdaleno two years ago. This is that fight and it works perfectly for Berchelt to make the move to 135 and go over to UK and get the big payday he deserves.
