20 Worst Decisions in the last 20 years

Over the past two decades, there has been a laundry list of controversial/horrible decisions. The last 12 months alone has seen several controversial decisions in mega fights. With more massive fights upcoming on the schedule, fight fans prayer for a just decision. The following is as I see the 20 worst decisions of the last 20 years (1997-2007) and how I scored it.

 *** In all disclosure I scored Pac/Bradley I 114-114 even so it’s not on my list.

20. Floyd Mayweather UD Luis Castillo
Judge: Anek Hongtongkam 116-111
Judge: John Keane 115-111
Judge: Jerry Roth 115-111
Judge: Gary Kittilsen (USA, TX, Unofficial)  114-112 Castillo. I had this much closer than everyone else but still had it for Castillo.
19: Samuel Peter SD James Toney
Judge: Dick Flaherty 116-111
Judge: Gale Van Hoy 112-115
Judge: Alejandro Rochin 116-111
Judge: Gary Kittilsen (USA, TX, Unofficial) 115-112 Toney. Of all Judges Gale Van Hoy had it right? Weird!!!
18. Oscar De La Hoya UD Felix Sturm
Judge: Mike Glienna 115-113
Judge: Paul Smith 115-113
Judge: Dave Moretti 115-113
Judge: Gary Kittilsen (USA, TX, Unofficial) 115-113 Sturm. Really Easy fight to score 7-5. Sturm dominated the second half of the fight.
17. Vernon Forrest UD Ike Quartey

Judge: Al Bennett 114-114
Judge: Gary Kittilsen (USA, TX, Unofficial)  116-112. Kellerman and Roy Jones Jr were asking the ref Samuel Viruet to stop the fight because Paul Williams was being outclassed. Following the bout, the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board conducted a full review with all three judges and although they did not find any evidence of fraud or intentional wrongdoing, they did suspend all three judges indefinitely pending additional training.
